Too funny. lol

and the snow just keeps on coming....yay for the entrepreneurial kids that live across the street from us...$5 buys us a whole lot of shovelling :) which is good since our driveway is 90 feet long!!

*I feel for you with regard to the tow-truck driver and his messy driveway adventure* It reminds me of how I feel after shoveling the driveway, sidewalk, steps and porch only to have the snowplows go by and fill the end of my driveway in with 3 feet of hard, wet, packed snow.........

It spits snow, it stops, it spits snow, it stops. Now its so windy that even the spitting snow appears to be harder than it really is. AND the snow is blowing all across the finally cleared roadways and its slippery.

It reminds me of how I feel after shoveling the driveway, sidewalk, steps and porch only to have the snowplows go by and fill the end of my driveway in with 3 feet of hard, wet, packed snow.........

Exactly! Which is why I waited until today to do anything about it. *mutters about the tow truck driver*

Re: :)
We had most of the wind last night...very windy with high speed gusts that sounded like they were taking the houses down while blowing all of the shovelled snow back onto the cleared spots :)
Today it has just been a relentlessly snowy day. It must have dropped a foot of snow today...to add to the foot and a half from yesterday at least. The city plows haven't cleared any of the downtown streets yet (it remains to be seen if they have cleared the highways) so there is a LOT of snow on the roads. At least it isn't cold out and there is virtually no wind today :) Looks like I'll be either shovelling the driveway tonight or paying the "business-kids" across the street another $5 :) They sure do love us!! Come spring they will have made enough from us to finance their new skateboard ramp I'm sure!! Somehow they learned (there are 3 young kids -- all brothers) that my husband had back surgery during the 1st week of December and I was working 2 jobs, so now they come running over every time they see me with a shovel in my hands or there is more than 3 inches of snow on the ground. Gotta love them...and they do a damn fine job of clearing the snow too and deserve every penny I give them. I do wish that the snow would let up for a few days though.....there's hope for tomorrow!

Re: :)
That's really cool about those boys. That is a really big help to you.

Working two jobs can be exhausting! I tried that once with two kids. Ugh.

And only paying them $5! I'd be hard pressed to get that kind of good work for less than $15. Even then I didn't get that good work. Sigh.

No work ethic these youth around here. But thats another post, another rant. LOL

We've got sun. Had it yesterday too, before it started snowing again.

Once, they hadn't plowed or done anything around here back when my husband and I were dating. He went to his parents house after he left me and he said to his dad "I think that Middletown has only one snow plow driver whose 86 years old and he only works on Tuesdays between the hours of 4:30 and 5."

His dad is a member of the Board of the Middletown Opera and he had a board meeting that same night. He came up here and during the meeting he had to give a speech. To start it off, he told them what my husband had said. As pretty much everyone else on the board lives in Middletown, they roared with laughter.

*shakes head* My husband the comedian.

Oh, and here's another laugh for you, as my husband was leaving to go to his parents for a lunch date with his mom, he sees me writing this response to you. He asks who you were again and I told him my new friend in Toronto. He faked sniffed and said "You're leaving me for a woman in Toronto!" Then fake wailed. The goof ball.

No, I'm not like that. But we have many friends who are. And we goof off all of the time saying that the other one is leaving for someone of the same sex. I still claim that one of his guy friends who appears very girly has a crush on him and I say that's his girlfriend.

Also, once my friend writanya was over. She left just as he got home. All he saw was her car pull out and down the street. He gets out of the car and says "Who was that?" I said "My little red headed lover."

I'm 5'7". She's this beautiful petite gorgeous red head whose about 5'4". I told her bout that and she got the biggest kick.

And with that, I got way off topic of the snow, but that's okay. I hope it has stopped for you and the boys have taken care of you and your husband. Take care out there. I know how dangerous it was around here when they had not plowed or salted. That was pretty scary!

Re: :)
Sounds like you and your husband get along just like me and my husband!
We constantly joke amongst ourselves and with our friends about who is whose girlfriend/boyfriend -- very funny!

The snow keeps stopping for a few hours at a time and then starting again....when I came into work this morning the sun was shining (but freezing cold nonetheless) and then about an hour ago it started to snow like crazy again....a normal January in Canada!! The boys across the street must be doing a "snow dance" to make money. We pay them $5 each to shovel -- sometimes all three of them come over and power-house the driveway...that costs us $15, but if only one comes over it's $5. Oh, and they finally plowed our street yesterday! We had quite the plow-induced drift and the end of our driveway last night I can tell you. I think that the plow drivers enjoy sealing everyone into their driveways. Nasty city workers. LOL

You take care in this weather too! It is quite treacherous at times. I can't even count how many people I have seen fish-tailing around on the roads or sliding through traffic lights in the past week. Horrible.

I hope that your day is going well and that it continues that way :)

Re: :)
My husband read your reply and just laughed and laughed. He has an LJ too only he posts in it rarely. Mostly lemmings anymore.

Nasty city workers.

Call me weird - cause I can be - but when I read this I got an image of Gollum saying "nasty hobbitses." LOL

Well, we got another 3 inches. Yuck. And of course the highway crew were not out until later and of course we had to be out in it and deal with stupid people drivers again.

What is the appeal of driving 75 - 90 MPH in this stuff? Do these people not care about their own lives? Or the lives of others that they might impact if they lose control?

Our friend shadowblasko went on a rant about his experience driving in this from IL. He spoke of an SUV that went cartwheeling in front of him. Wow.

The only fun part of driving in this is when you know that no one is on your street and you can slide on purpose. That is fun and the kids love it too.

Its supposed to be 2 degrees in the morning. Then only get up to 15 the entire day on Friday.

You can bet we all will be wearing 2 or more layers of clothing.

Stay warm girl. :-D
