A Weemowep A Weemowep A Weemowep

Well, I got my phone call at 2:30 yesterday.

Good news - they want me
Bad news - they are trying to figure out salary and budgeting that in and it may take 1 to 4 weeks to do so.

Okay, this is the job I've been looking for. I can wait on them to figure out the budget.

My only fear is that in the next 1 to 4 weeks they can NOT budget me in and I get a call saying "you're what we want but sorry we can't pay you".

I'm seriously afraid of that. It happened to Drekk. I don't think I spelled his name right. Ah well.

Also! Yesterday!

I got to go see Jesus Christ Superstar at Arnoff with bigstan. Sebastian Bach was in the role of Jesus.

I think he might have had some trouble with the notes. Also, he showboated. More like a rock star then a musical star.

He showed much nipple in the second act. Before he took his top off for the final scenes. I don't know but I think it was on purpose.

The guy who played Judas is the original and he was just incredible. I'm sure after XX number of years playing the part, it is easy to just slip into - like a nice warm comfy robe and a snuggle before off to bed.

I was in awe of him. AND the bases. Their voices were the type who when they opened their mouths, the first note just vibrates through your whole being. And you yearn to hear more. You don't want them to stop singing because it is carrying you away to another place, a place that you WANT to get to.

The lead base looked a bit like supercannuck to me. That is who he reminded me of. And I KNOW supercannuck could "act" the part. Whether or not he could SING it would be a different story.

The part with King Herod, outside of BLINDING, was very entertaining.

It was interesting to see how they made it more modern. The clothes in particular.

As I have never seen it before, I have no basis of comparison. But bigstan and his family have and his father especially said it was interesting to see how it has evolved.

The funniest part was when the Roman Guards came out. I leaned over to bigstan and did my Darth Vader impression. We both just laughed. That is what they looked like in their "battle gear".

They made Pilot up to look like a Hitler wannabe type. The scene from the temple where Jesus finds them gambling and the like and has a fit - they made it look like a stock trade facility.

The cast - at times - were dressed in dark suits and dark dresses and appeared to be from the 40s. End the end they reminded me of Hitler's Germany and people from it. Or how they have been represented to me through inaccurate films.

"Mary" had a good voice, played her part well.

You never know WHO was who in the Apositles. Except for Judas Iscariot. Until almost to the end when he points to Peter and tells Peter he will deny Jesus 3x before the morning.

What I rolled my eyes at most was when being nailed to the Cross, Sebastian said "Forgive them Father. For they do not know what they are doing."

Sigh. Rolls eyes.

THAT part could have been kept Biblical in my opinion.

Overall, I enjoyed the muscial. Afterwards, while waiting for the crowds to clear, I was sitting with my future FIL. bigstan was standing in front of us. I lamented how I would not get to see Lion King and I so wanted to.

Before I tell you what FIL said - I have to give a bit of background.

I told bigstan that I wanted to see Lion King. He told me some time later that FIL could not get tickets as all showings were sold out. I was disappointed.

Now I return you to last night - FIL looks at me and says "But you ARE going to see Lion King. I have the tickets on my desk at home."

I almost got whiplash I turned to look at bigstan so fast. When I did, I found him glaring at FIL.

FIL looked back and forth and put his hand to his mouth and said "Oops. I guess I shouldn't have told that."

bigstan told FIL that it was going to be a surprise.

Yes, it was a surprise dearest. I'M SO EXCITED!!!

Sorry that dad told on you. But I'm one who terribly HATES surprises. I tend to get pissed off if I'm surprised.

I guess it comes from me being so darn nosey about things. I have to know what, when, where, why, who, etc.

If I don't know, if I'm surprised, don't you be surprised if I walk out or be less than pleased with you and the situation.

When I am surprised, I tend to get BAD moody and I'm not any fun.

So future reference, it is NOT good to surprise me, with anything.

I'm excited about going to Lion King but I am a bit miffed that I was lied to in order for a surprise to occur.

Oh well, I will get over it. There. Over it already. See? Told you.

I get to see Lion King!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm such a theatre geek.

Re: BTW...
I know. Outside of wanting to see the musical itself, I wanted to see him perform.

Perform he did. Yes, brain hurts over this.

He had blond hair with black underneath if that made any sense.

And his hair kept getting in the way and he had to toss his head to get it out of the way quite often.

But overall, I would give it a Must See. Even with Bach playing Jesus.

PS - The "oops, that wasn't supposed to happen" things were quite entertaining. But in the light of day, don't ask me to remember what they were. My brain is fuzzy right now.
