How Insensitive of You!

Yes, I am still angry. I am terribly hurt. I don't want to beat you with a pillow, I would use the Safer Sword but I'm afraid that I'm so pissed off that I will break it over your head. The only scene from the commercials of Ya Ya Sisterhood that sticks out is the one where she and her mother are both screaming and pounding the phone on the table/counter. That is what I want to do to your head. With something hard.

How could you be so insensitive? How could you be so callous? How could you be so airheaded?

What am I blathering on about for those of you who read this ask? My dear husband took it upon himself last night while I was reading HP and OotP to tell me who dies.

I was reading the book. I showed him I had about 1/3 to 1/4 left to go. He asks me if its good and I'm like - YES. So he says to me, Well, I know ****** dies.

Know what he says to me? He says, I thought X dies at the beginning! I'm sorry!

Fuck you!

Anyone who is anyone knows that she did NOT put the death of X at the beginning of the book.

Furthermore, my neighbor who was disappointed in the book - blathered on to dear hubby telling him how disappointed she was in it because NOTHING HAPPENS UNTIL THE END.

What part of that did he miss? Is it the hair color? Is it the fact that the neighbor rattles on so that even I tend to ignore most of what she tells me? Because she IS rather boring to listen to.

I know she told him that nothing happened until the end of the book because she told ME she told him that and then she repeatedly told me how nothing happens until the end of the book and how she did not like the book for that reason.

I have so enjoyed this book. I was so looking forward to the surprise at the end - who dies? When does the other stuff take place? What is going to happen?

Well, now the book, that I have enjoyed emensely, has been ruined for me.

Of course I don't know HOW X dies, but the fact that it is X that dies - I didn't want to know that until I read it.

I cannot begin to tell you how pissed off I am.

Did I do that to you when you were reading Regina's Song and you told me you had 51 pages left and that you didn't want to know how it ended because you didn't want the book ruined for you?

No. Instead I asked where you were at in the book so that I knew what it was safe to talk to you about.

How can you be so calous? So uncaring?

Why could you say, have you gotten to the part where the major charachter dies yet?

Then I could have said no and you would not have ruined a book for me.

I'm so distressed. I cried myself to sleep last night. I'm sick to my stomach today. I'm heartsick.

Is a book really that important?

Its not that the book is important - I think it is because I happen to enjoy these books and enjoy discovering what is happening next without interference of someone telling me about what the charachter is going to do or say - its more the principal of the matter.

Its that he didn't want to know how HIS book ended (because I read it before him obviously), its that he was careless of my feelings and instead of erring on the side of caution, he threw caution to the wind and told me how mine ends.

Not really how it ends per se, but which charchater dies.

Here I'm thinking its Sn, M or D - and even hoping its F and that darn cat - or the newest toad charachter - but NOOOOOOO - its ruined for me.

I just want to beat you seriously about the head with something to knock some sense into you.

I will eventually let this go, but in the meantime, be expecting some frigid weather.

Yes, you heard me correctly, I'm that pissed off. I'm that hurt.

And, "I didn't know" or "I thought it happened at the beginning" is not an acceptable excuse either. Because I was told that you were told that nothing happened until the end. Which means that you did not listen. Oh, you heard what you wanted to - enough to ruin the book for me - but you DIDN'T hear the most important part - NOTHING HAPPENS UNTIL THE END - that part that would have stopped you from ruining it.

I am so terribly hurt. I don't even know where to begin to express the pain in my chest that you would be so insensitive, so callous, so uncaring, so !@#@#$!#$!@#$!@#$!@#$.

I swear
I can break down the problems, that cause Pet & I problems; into these catergories:

Drives me crazy. You know how that whole listening/paying attention thing works on me. Because you didn't listen and acknowledge that you totally and understand what I have told you, is just the root of all of our arguements.

Honsetly, is it too much to ask that you(Pet), pay attention, not screw up, follow directions, and do things exactly the way I need them to be done. 4 things, it is not that flipping difficult.

Shakes Head sadly
See, what it is, they don't pay any attention to us because it is not what THEY want to do. They think that they can do it better, faster, smarter - and our way isn't as good as their way.

Its a total male thing.

There are things you can give them to do that they won't screw up and then there are things that you ask them to do that they mess up royally and you have to go behind them (fuming all the way) and correct.

Those are the "if you want something done you've got to do it yourself" projects.

But this is something more personal than that - you see me enjoying this book, you KNOW I'm enjoying this book - I haven't said anything to you about coming to the part of who gets killed therefore you should KNOW that I haven't gotten there yet.

Its not an instinct thing. Its a common sense thing. Its a USE YOUR HEAD thing.

I mean, YOU perdita_saxon know what I mean. Daily you ask me where I am in the book and say "I'm not going to tell you what comes next but didn't you love this part?"

So anyway, that's it and that's that. I will finish the book simply because I don't know much else. Its just ruined now and I'm not going to get as much pleasure out of it as I would have if I had not been told who dies.

I'm sad that he dies.

Now that I KNOW he dies does not mean that I want to know HOW he dies.

No other readers, HP is not the "he" I'm talking about either. Nor is it Ron.

Re: Shakes Head sadly
Again, in a playfully humorous tone, with a hint or seriousness) What if you were told the whole ending? What would you do then?

I'd read the book anyways, and I wouldn't get mad, because that doesn't achieve anything in the long term perspective. Madness is for those who focus on short term pleasure, and it's a bullying tool. I bet you think I'm trying to assert moral superiority here. Nope! I don't care what you do, do what you like. I share my experiences here.

Sending my best, and hoping you get what you deserve, take that as you will. :-)

At least I'm venting my anger here. That is what LJ is for isn't it? To be able to write what you want - basically.

When I go home tonight, because I have been able to vent here and talk back and forth with everyone, I will be a much calmer, and perhaps happier, person.

At least I'm not kicking at a glass door. ;)

Re: Venting
Certainly! Anger has its usefulness. It really boils down to doing what experience tells us works. The question is, what happens when the experience is only focused on short term? Ok, so it's the same thing worded differently. hehe

Re: Venting

Answer: I kick in a door, I vent in my LJ, I feel better - except when I hurt myself and cause myself serious injury because I'm a hothead.

Re: Venting
How bizzare it is italicizing everything. I turned the italics off - oh well.

Anyway, please note that these hothead antics do NOT occur when children are around / present.

The kids are never there when I get stupid like that.

Re: Shakes Head sadly
Would that getting the chance to read a book/see a movie without anyone ruining the ending?

I would love to read a book, a whole big fat 1000 page book without being interrupted, bothered or any one telling me how it will end.

Unlike things like the Titanic, Gods and Generals, Gallipolis - we know before going in to the movie how it will end.

But when a book is in a series, and YOU know a character is going to be killed - Be respectable and don't say who, how or who kills them.

And I like knowing how stuff ends before the beginning.

Re: I swear
(In a humorous playful tone, with a bit of seriousness in it) Is P.E.T. your personal slave robot? What's wrong, can't handle a human being? hehe Humans make mistakes. There is perfect, then there is perfectly human. No one can live up to the imagined 'perfect'.

Good hunting.

Re: I swear
When she goes hunting, all is silent in the world. Because nothing wants to make a noise and get noticed.

When she goes hunting, be afraid, be very afraid.
Jul. 16th, 2003 08:55 am (UTC)
Re: I swear
Heh! Fear? What's that for? Oh yeah! Those who fear do so because they perceive danger! hehehe ;-)
Jul. 16th, 2003 11:37 am (UTC)
to be young and naive again. *pats you on head*

What you don't know, can't hurt you. Or can it?
Jul. 16th, 2003 09:19 am (UTC)
Re: I swear
No pet is not a person slave robot.
But I bet the robot would be able to follow my instructions to the letter.

The not screwing up part - is the reality that pet can not afford( yes I mean $$) to make mistakes. There are rules and they will be followed. The rules are there because of the screw ups in the first place.
Jul. 16th, 2003 09:30 am (UTC)
Re: I swear
Ok. It seems the limitations (rules) are due to financial screw-ups. I understand that.

Why do you call him Pet? Is his name related somehow?
Jul. 16th, 2003 09:42 am (UTC)
Re: I swear
Pet is Pet due to an intense IM discussion I was having with EOB and I left out some letters of his name. I didn't even look at the sentance before sending it. Hence forth Pet is the code nickname, protecting his real identity.

I don't tolerate things like speeding tickets, car accidents, and other financial harbringers of DOOM, very well.
