Its Official

Do I yell? Scream? Dance? Run around like a crazy person?

Cause I want to do all of that simultaneously.

Why? What's official you ask?

I'm engaged.

To this really awesome, sexy, intelligent, neat guy.

Only now we get to start the process of finding the place for both wedding and reception. I need to find a gown. Nothing extremely formal, something that wears well in early Summer. And looks good with bare feet.

My rings are being designed. There are three stones and they have to be reset from the ring his grandmother gave him.

I don't know what they will look like when the ring craftman is done, but I want to be surprised.

His ring will have to be ordered but we have time. Yes, we have already picked it out.

My best girlfriend, also a bridesmaid, (YIPEEE) found the cutest dress for Boo's flower girl dress on the Internet and it is priced just right. I have measured the Boo and then added 3 inches as she will have grown come June. Now, I just have to place my order.

I am so excited.

I have hit him hard in two days with all kinds of information in regard to wedding / reception sites. The prices is what are boggling our minds. YIPE

Time to harvest some more money off of the money tree growing out of my butt.

He was like, whoa, slow down. I said, can't, have less than one year to plan and we have to jump on it now or we may not have the sight we want when it comes time!

Less than one year.

He is petrified to say the least. He has never been married before.

I don't know that you could call what I was married. I mean, ok, yes, there was a piece of paper out there on file with the state, but all I had were children to deal with. And I'm not talking Boo or Camdenator.

I'm not saying I'm not a big kid myself, but I am a responsible big kid.

What I had were starter marriages. STARTER. Never lasted past two years.

This one, this time, is different.

We have taken time to get to know each other. We want to continue to learn and grow together.

We have some time before the wedding on 6/7/03 in which to plan what we want, make out the guest list, send out emails to request mailing addresses for the ones whose we do not know but have email addresses for.

He has an idea on a DJ. We are thinking of making the food stuff for the dinner ourselves. Most cost effective than hirnig a caterer.

Then there is the cake. What kind? How many tiers?

Oh, and it would also be nice to know who is going to officiate it. We are still talking about that.

We DO NOT want either minister parent doing it. For a variety of reasons, all of which have been explained to them and I hope that they are not insulted and can understand.

Son of a preacher kid. Double preachers. Do I mind my P's and Q's? Yes and no. First because they are the parents of my future intended, I do. But then, his mom and I get along so well that she is like a girlfriend to me.

That is so very wonderful. A partner in crime. A co-conspirator. Hee, hee, hee, heeee.

She told him last night that it was his fault that he picked a girl with whom his mother could get along.

I am so very lucky. Very, very, very lucky.

Pinch me. I'm dreaming. It all seems surreal.

I am SO happy for you!!!
My husband and I tried all that planning stuff...
It proved to be more than our patients could handle (plus at the time there was a family crisis), so we just had a very good friend of mine, who is an ordained minister, marry us. It was still very nice and pretty.. and we plan on some day having the wedding we WANT to have.
That is SO awesome! And his grandmothers ring??!!! Wow!!
I wish you the VERY VERY best of luck!!
*does a happy dance with you*

Thank you!!

As you read, both of his parents are ministers. They are ministers of the Presbytarian faith. He told me that after I left their house, his mother sat him down, said that she and his father completely understand our position in regard to them not officiating, but the fact was

So, there you have it. The parental units want that, very much. This is their baby boy I'm marrying here.

He assures me that they will sit back and let us have things, plan things, the way we want them. He assures me that they may raise and eyebrow or two at our plans, but that they will hold their tongues.

I love him, I trust him, I love them, I trust them. So all I can do is forge ahead knowing that we safely have at least one or two things accomplished.

Yes, his grandmother's ring. We talked to her on the phone after announcing the wedding to his parents. She said that she hopes that I enjoy them as much as she has. She said that she is glad that they will be kept in the family.

I told his Mom one time, I look forward to proudling wearing those stones and to hopefully one day pass them on to another young man who bears the last name - way into the future.

I'm so excited, I feel so giddy!!

Once the website for the announcement is complete I will email you and let you know where to go check it out at. But currently, I'm still working on it.
